Elopement "I want to Run" | Social Story
This social story was designed for students that elope (run) out of the classroom when they get upset. It teaches them that running out of the classroom is not safe and teaches the replacement strategy of asking for a break and/or using a designated safe space in the classroom instead of running. This way, the teacher knows where they are.
This social story also includes using a break card to request the safe space and earning a 'token' if the student uses the safe space and does not run. Simply omit these pages, if they do not apply to your learner and his/her plan.
